About Chris Hall

I’m Chris Hall, a mold assessor with a passion for creating healthier living environments. My journey began as a home inspector who knew very little about mold. I quickly realized that mold is extremely common in residential properties. This sparked my curiosity and led me to dive deep into the world of mold—its causes, implications, and the best practices for addressing it.

Through extensive research and hands-on experience, I expanded my services to include mold sampling and assessments. Today mold is one of the areas I am most knowledgeable and passionate about.

One of the most important parts of a mold assessment is an understanding of building science and construction. Anybody can take a mold sample; it takes a professional to understand the what and why behind a mold problem.

Mold only grows where moisture is. A mold assessor must understand how moisture intrusion, elevated humidity, condensation, and mold spores interact in the home. My background as a home inspector was very helpful as a base.

Another important step in my journey was becoming a Certified Mold Assessor through NORMI. Mold is an unregulated industry, and many businesses offer mold testing and “remediation” without understanding the implications or following any professional standards. NORMI is a leading mold organization that provides standards for assessment, remediation, and post remediation verification.

I follow standards for mold assessment and testing by NORMI, IICRC, and EPA. Although mold is largely unregulated at the state level, these three organizations have created standards that all mold pros follow. It’s vital to have an inspector who follows industry standards and best practices.

I hold multiple certifications in mold, assessment, and construction, and regularly take additional training and CE courses, ensuring that I stay at the forefront of industry standards and best practices.
