Sampling

At MSI, we use mold testing equipment and supplies designed for professionals. All samples are analyzed by an independent and accredited microbiological laboratory. You receive the lab report as well as our interpretation.

Surface samples identify the species of mold, whether it is active at the time of sampling, and the spore density. In many cases mold is obvious, but in cases of light discoloration or potential growth, a surface sample eliminates doubt and provides a positive yes or no identification.

Air samples reveal the species and amount of mold spores in the air and are useful for indoor air quality inspections, as well as pre and post remediation evaluations. It is important to understand that mold spores are normal in the home’s air. All homes have some mold spores, but certain species and spore counts can cause issues or be indicative of a problem.

We use high quality mold pumps and air o cell cassettes that are specifically designed for mold and air quality testing.

Mycotoxin surface sampling is a relatively new technology in the mold industry. Mycotoxins are toxins produced by certain species of mold that can cause health problems. Medical professionals often test for specific mycotoxins in the body when they suspect mold-related illness. Mycotoxin surface sampling can identify specific mycotoxins in the home.
